SHANGRING: Male Circumcision Device

Circumcision reduces risk of transmission of HIV by over 65 percent.  It is associated with reduced risk of HPV (32-35%), HSV-2 (25-34%), STIs, and prevention of genital cancers, including cervical and penile1.  In 2016, WHO and UNAIDS targeted 27 million for Voluntary Medical Male Circumcision (VMMC) in 14 high priority countries.

ZARIN

Zarin®, Levoplant, also known as Sino-implant (II), is a subcutaneous contraceptive implant manufactured in China by Shanghai Dahua Pharmaceutical Company Limited. The implant is composed of two thin, flexible rods made of medical grade silicone, each containing 75 mg of levonorgestrel (a synthetic progestin). Each rod consists of a drug core and an external medical silastic tube that is sealed at both ends with medical adhesive. The implant is inserted under the skin of the upper arm.

HIV AT THE WORKPLACE

Pharm Access Africa Limited (PAAL) was selected by Aureos Capital to start and implement an HIV/AIDS workplace program with a group of companies in East Africa.

The Program was launched at the Holiday Inn in Nairobi on June 19th 2008
Representatives including MD’s and CEO’s of the group’s investee companies were briefed on the program.
Data from companies that had already put in place the HIV/AIDS at the workplace program was presented illustrating benefits outweigh the costs

The Gold Star Network is a social franchise program established in 2006 to promote comprehensive & quality HIV care amongst a network of private health providers in Kenya..  The network addresses issues relating to quality legal support, psycho-social support, counseling and access to cost-effective laboratory services and medication.

The World Health Organization estimates that 33.4 million people worldwide are HIV positive. Approximately 22.4 million people living in sub-Saharan Africa are HIV positive. Those infected & affected by HIV are at their most productive age between (15 – 49 years).  This has detrimental effects on economic growth and stability of the region.

PAAL partnered with international donor companies to develop and implement workplace HIV/AIDS policies for large private sector and parastatal organizations under the IMPACT project.
